Dear Customers,

We apologise for any disruption to your ProtectNow Service since 22nd November 2002. The cause of the failure is due to a new major engine upgrade which has failed to self-installed. The old antivurs engine Version was 5.00.47 while the new version is at 5.40.28. This new engine is necessary to ensure that Protectnow is using the latest anti-virus technology to combat new viruses,worms and trojans. Also, if you see in the mailnow console that your protectnow is not loaded and has expired, it is also most likely due to the engine problem as explained above.

Anyway the solution is as detailed below:

i)Stop MailNow and ProtectNow Autoupdate. If you are using Windows NT/2000/XP. This can be done by using the Windows Services Program or by running in the Windows Start Button | Run - "Services.msc /s" On the other hand if you are using Windows 95/98/ME, then just right click on the respective program in the system tray and select ShutDown.

ii)Next Locate where your ProtectNow is installed. By default the directory is at C:\norman. For easy referencing, we will assume it is installed C:\norman, but if your installation is on another directory please replace accordingly

iii)Then goto C:\norman\nvc\nse\update

iv)For Windows NT/2000/XP you should see 2 files: new.txt and nse_w32.dll. While Windows 95/98/ME you should see 3 files: new.txt, nse_w32.dll and nsew31.vxd.

v)Copies those files above into the C:\norman\nvc\nse. You will then be asked if you want to overwrite the files. Pls say yes to all.

NOTE: if you do not see those files as mentioned, ensure that the folder options is set to see all files!

vi)Reboot the Server/PC. The problem should be fixed! If you still find that the ProtectNow is not working, please do not hesitate to call us immediately at 603-80752050. Ask for "ProtectNowUpgrade Support".

Yahoo! mail issue

If you have been facing problems using Yahoo! mail going through ProxyNow!, please upgrade your ProxyNow! to version 2.83

TMnet SMTP server issue

If you have been receiving bounced emails from your MailNow! server with the following error message:

550 5.7.1 Service not available
it is very likely that you are using TMnet SMTP server (smtp.tm.net.my). You can check this in the MailNow! console (under Setup | System | SMTP | Outgoing SMTP Relay Server).

Due a recent change of policy, smtp.tm.net.my only accepts emails with tm.net.my ad the sender domain. Therefore if you use any other domains (other than tm.net.my) and try to send emails through the SMTP server it will generate the above error.

You advised to use smtp2.tm.net.my instead. If your MailNow! connect to the Internet directly, you can change this under Setup | System | SMTP | Outgoing SMTP Relay Server).

FirewallNow! 2.0 is now officially released. There has been a widespread demand for this type of server firewall and reception has been hot! "Look at it this way, the reason why previous attacks such as CodeRed and other trojans successfully breached corporate firewalls is because the applications executing at the server are not validated with rules and valid ports are not checked," contends Marcus Low, R&D Director for FirewallNow!. He adds, "FirewallNow! performs both application validation and packet level filtering at the server. Your server is rock solid." ..

A lot of request come from the broadband (ADSL, XDSL) users understandably, everyone knows longer connection time also means higher chances of getting hacked, esps with a fixed IP.

FirewallNow! however is priced significantly lower than a normal corporate firewall. In fact according to InternetNow's General Manager, Lawrence Yee, "If you already have a corporate firewall, you will still need FirewallNow! to provide that crucial protection for the server. While corporate firewall provides basic protection for the network, FirewallNow! concentrates only on the server. For the Malaysian market we have decided to provide 2 types of licenses so that smaller companies could afford this important protection."

We will be away to Hong Kong for our company trip from Friday 23/8/02 until Monday 26/8/02. During this period our office will be closed and we will continue our operations on Tuesday 27/8/02.

Our R&D department is on the verge of releasing a new product called FirewallNow! Small Business Edition. FirewallNow! is a firewall for the servers. Customers and dealers who would like to obtain an early preview of the beta version may do so by contacting us.
